Project

In groups of five, students of Scientific English II will develop a project about one of the following topics:

1) The nervous system in old age/Alzheimer disease
The objective is to analyze the ageing process and study one of the most common pathologies in old age: Alzheimer.

More specifically you should:

• study brain changes in old age
• analyze changes in the senses
• study neurological disorders: Alzheimer

You will elaborate an oral presentation describing the most important features of the disease (causes, symptoms, treatments, etc.) and will present a case about a patient with Alzheimer and the role of the Occupational Therapist to make his/her life easier.

2) Services in the School
In this project, you will study the role of Occupational Therapists in schools:

• children's capabilities and abilities
• suitable therapies according to individual needs
• role of the Occupational Therapist to help children participate in daily activities organized in the school

You will make an oral presentation about a specific child with difficulties in the school, explaining the assistance provided by the Occupational Therapist.

3) Dealing with drug addiction
Your research involves the following features:

• dangers of smoking/drugs
• what is drug addiction?
• types of drug addiction and how they affect the human mind and body

You will make an oral presentation about an Occupational Therapist working in a drug rehabilitation centre and the therapy applied to a patient according to his/her needs.
